Got to be fired up about the CFB Conference Championship Games this weekend! If you are a Notre Dame fan, you are very happy your Irish do not have to play a game and are already in the Playoffs ( although ZT thinks they are a “1 and done” ).
Padre had a light week in the pastoral space only having to provide a burnt offering for his Gators taking care of the Seminoles last week so he is first in with prognostications….
First, Florida beat that team that shall not be named 41-14 last Saturday. I never thought 9-3 would feel so good as a Gator fan, but boy it does! Meanwhile, I am convinced that Willie Taggart is THE GUY FOR THE JOB AT THAT SCHOOL!!! Just give him a chance. He will be great. I fully support him being there for 25 more years! 🙂
Washington Huskies 27 Utah Utes 20
Utah plays hard and well, but Washington is just too much talent wise and the Huskies prevail with Roses in their future. Against Ohio State? Hmmmmm. We shall see. If that happens, the Roses will smell like poop for Urban Meyer!
Oklahoma Sooners 44 Texas Longhorns 37
Sooners get revenge!! Defense is unwelcome in this game ( as always in the B12 ) but I think Texas makes a few more mistakes and it costs them in a good, hard-fought game. Meanwhile, Kevin Sumlin thought Murray wasn’t the guy at A & M. Hmmmmmmm. It happens!! Florida didn’t think Cam Newton was “the guy” either. 😦
Memphis Tigers 38 UCF Knights 37 – Upset Special
In a minor upset, Memphis prevails. The loss of UCF’s QB is just too much in the end. By the way, this game is NOT a neutral site game. It’s in Orlando ( UCF’s Home ). UCF is happy about this, of course. You know who else is happy about this? EVERY SINGLE MEMPHIS PLAYER because they play in the toilet bowl known as the Liberty Bowl!!

Georgia Bulldogs 33 BAMA 30 – Upset of Championship Weekend!
Yup…..I’ve called it. I know it’s crazy. And trust me, as a Gator I DON’T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN!!!!! But I have a feeling…. Just a hunch. Call it a “whiff of a smelly, wet dawg in the air. I think Bama has more yards , but Georgia gets a couple of key turnovers & the win. Then the question comes…… Who deserves the 4th spot? Bama? Ohio State? Oklahoma? Hmmmmmmm…
SO, if my prognostications come true, this is what I think the playoff will look like:
1 Clemson 2 Notre Dame 3 Georgia 4 BAMA 5 Oklahoma 6 Ohio State

This will be a defensive battle of epic proportions!…………ZT just wet his pants after writing that! The only thing defensive about this game will be how the OU and TEX DC’s try to explain their philosophies during job interviews in the offseason. Interesting that TX-OU will play twice in a one year….hasn’t happened since 1903 but OU is glad it is this year. Good news for Longhorns, game is in Dallas. Bad News, OU is so ready for a rematch after Texas upset them in October ( which put OU’s hopes/dreams in peril ) that even BEVO will likely throw himself into the meat grinder sometime in the 3rd Quarter. ZT thinks this will be so bad that Holly Rowe will be given a helmet in the 4th to play Nose Guard.
Memphis Tigers 38 UCF Knights 35
AAC Championship is a different game than it should be after the tragic injury to Knights QB McKenzie Milton. A lot of stories in this one. 4th meeting in 2 years ( UCF 3-0 and has won 12 straight over Memphis ) but Tigers gave Knights all they wanted earlier this season WITH Milton at QB. Tigers need to be balanced vs. run only and ZT thinks you will see that today. UCF R/S Freshmen QB Darriel Mack Jr. does add an extra run dimension to the Knight offense. Lots on the line in Orlando’s Spectrum Stadium…..ZT recalls a recent industry report about the cable/satellite TV industry losing 1,000,000 subscribers in a 90 days period ( most of this due to people having to see Gary Danielson on CBS). Expect UCF to have an “outage” today. Tigers get the close win and prevent UCF from getting thumped by Florida Gators in the Peach Bowl!

Neither of these are actually states………since this is the Mountain West Championship, ZT goes with Boise since they have more mountains than Fresno.
ZT is now having a reaction to the double Beef and Cheese nachos with extra jalapenos consumed last night……back in a bit….

Why play this game? 1st…it’s in Charlotte during December ( Belk sponsors the Bowl in Charlotte because they sell more clothes for that game than they do on Black Friday ). Good news, it will only be 50’s with rain so not too bad for this time of year…..remember its Charlotte. Ok….Clemson will destroy the #69 defense in the nation. Remember they scored 59 against South Carolina last week! After Tigers QB Trevor “Sunshine” Lawrence does his business, expect to see backup QB Chase Brice ( ZT likes full names with only 2 syllables ) come in and score even more. ZT says 7 sacks and 2 Int’s for Clemson defense today as well. After the game, Dabo says ” I was taught to win and lose with class by Coach Stallings at Alabama but even he would say ” Dabo, that was just an a$$ whooping today!”

ZT doesn’t like the Big 10 or most of the teams in the Big 10, but does like a group of guys from Michigan who he is in a baseball fantasy league with so will follow “momma’s advice ( and actually Patrick Swayze’s advice in the movie Roadhouse ) and “BE NICE”. Buckeyes crush the Wildcats and then go on a drinking binge until the Playoff Committee assigns them to Pasadena. Wildcats are a solid team with a good coach ( may eventually adopt them as my lone Big 10 team ). Love to see them shock the conference but about as likely to happen as it would be for Trump to do some shots with Putin at the G-20. If you really need to watch more football after the OU-TEX and Bama-GA games, just watch the Mountain West game tonight between the 2 “state” teams that aren’t states because at least you will learn some new names of college football players.

Ok…this is it. Georgia has been focused on this one for 363 days. 363? Well, they did forget about it in early November when Coach O and his Tigahs beat the Bulldogs worse than a stray pitbull chained to a redneck’s trailer. Good news, HC & Bulldog Veterinarian Kirby “I like my hair cut like Moe from the 3 Stooges” Smart took care of that, made a lesson out of it, and has the Bulldogs ready for this one! GA offense with QB Fromm and RB Holyfield are solid and the Defense ( even with DC Mel Tucker taking the Colorado HC job ) will be ready for Tua, Jalen and everything else Bama has to offer. Key for Bulldogs is to hold the Tide in the low 30’s . ZT thinks a drop 7 and force the run is a better idea than pressing on Tua. Wow, doesn’t that sound strange against the historically run-oriented Crimson Tide? SO…expect to see some points but a MUCH closer game than the boys in the NV desert predict. Could easily go either way but believe Bama finds a way to win late ( not by a kicker unless you believe NOT using a Bama kicker is like using a Bama kicker for the best result!! ). After the game, the entire Mercedes-Benz Dome goes wild when they realize Gary Danielson will NOT be seen ( unless you watch the Sun Bowl, which you shouldn’t ) again until August 2019 at the earliest!!! When Gary gets in the Limo, he finds Verne Lundquist in the back seat wearing a Ninja suit ( very tight ) and is knocked unconscious by a nunchuck. Gary awakes in a locked room and forced to watch replays of his own broadcasts for 72 hours straight. He is finally found by a homeless man west Atlanta and his first words are ” Worst Diahareah EVER!” to which the homeless man says ” I have some Pepto in my paper bag, you want it?” to which Gary says ” No, I mean my game broadcasts!” Gary finds a note pinned to him from Verne that says “Thanked God for you at Thanksgiving last week as I realized you even made me look like a good football sportscaster!”
OK…ZT swore he would NOT pick any of the “add on” or replay games but had to on this one..
