CFB 2024 – Conference Time – Friday

Will give all an “appetizer” on Friday night with the UNLV – Boise State game. Why? Because it matters based on the latest CFP rankings.

The “core” controversy leading into this weekend is where Bama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, and Miami are sitting. Reality, appears it’s Bama vs Miami which means some unique “cheering opportunities” this weekend.

UNLV vs. Boise: A play-in game in the Mountain West! If on a neutral field, I would actually take UNLV for the upset. But since this game is in the land of the potato (or “potatoE”, if you are Dan Quayle), I will say Boise pulls it out and punches their ticket to a bye by a score of 27-23. Yes, they will get a bye! 🤦‍♂️ WHY CAN’T THEY JUST SEED THE TEAMS CORRECTLY?!?! I swear that the quickest way to take out all of the common sense in life can be found in two words — “committees” & “bureaucrats”.

ZT is fired up for this weekend….even convinced his sweet wife to make a pot of chili since the temps finally dropped in the south. OK, she only agreed noting ZT was leaving town again but let’s leave it there.

UNLV Rebels vs. Boise State Broncos Mtn West at Boise, ID. 8pm

Ok….ZT loves both these teams!!! Why? ( ZT, you assume anyone cares why you love them but go ahead..). UNLV – starts the year 3-0 under Holy Cross Transfer QB Mathew “Where’s my Loot-” Sluka but then a NIL issue and he claims his redshirt….next man up is Sr. Hajj-Malik Williams, off 5 years at Campbell University with eligibility left (maybe older than Lamar Jackson? ). All he has done in 9 games is throw for over 1,700 yds and rush for 768 yds. HC Barry Odom ( yep, from Mizzou & Ark ) simply said at that time, “Business as usual!” Rebels lost to Boise in late October in a close one ( 24-29 ) so they are ready for a rematch. They better be as the Broncos have only 1 loss and it was a close one to Oregon in early September. Rebels were leading with 10 minutes left in the 4th. ZT has been to Boise and it’s a pretty neat town. Primarily its the Capital of Idaho and the home of Boise State…ok, its home to a few large companies including Albertson’s ( thanks for the chamber of commerce report on Boise ZT ). Oh yeah, they have a guy name Ashton Jeanty who has run for 2,288 yds & 28 TDs. He will be in NYC for the Heisman announcement on 12/14. QB Maddux Madsen has 21 TDs with only 3 INTs which is perfect balance to the Bronco’s run game. So….added insight, ZT worked for Albertsons one summer in Tuscaloosa as a bag boy in 105 degree heat ( and can prove it.. unlike some political candidates who claimed to work menial jobs )….They were so tough we were not allowed to have OT or accept gratuities yet, 40 years later BSU has a NIL near $1mm… ( ZT had a drunk Texan force a $20 bill in his hand one day after advising we were not allowed to take tips…he said, as I loaded a few cases of beer in his drop top Cadillac at 107 degrees, “well you’ll take a tip from me! ”…ZT took to head cashier noting this was not allowed….she looked strangely at ZT and said “Ok”….assume that money went into the precursor to the NIL collective ……..).
