CFB 2025 – Army vs. Navy & some other stuff….

AMERICA’s GAME, which began in 1890, is one of the best games in college football. Sure it rarely figures into who wins a Natty but a game that supports military service and true sportsmanship should be a must watch. People who have attended, specifically at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia noted it is 10x better when being there. Navy leads the series 63-55- 7 but Army is 6-4 in last 10 games.

Army loves having the lead!!

CFB update – As is America in 2025, even the sport of college football we love is not without controversy (NO, this part has nothing to do with Lane Kiffin ). At least 15 Head Coaches have been fired and more retirements, etc. Even some playoff teams including Ole Miss, Tulane, and James Madison have changes. At the end of the day, playoffs are a good idea but they still don’t have it right and hope it improves going forward. Will request they do NOT let the Federal Government or State of Minnesota have anything to do with the “go forward”.

Enough of that and back to AMERICA’s GAME!!!

Prognostication Accountability Update: Padre 87-36 ZT 82 -41 ZT notes he did pick up a gain on the Padre with his Upset Special of Tulane over UNT ( ZT, that immediately brings up the phrase ” Even a blind hog will find an acorn” ). ZT confident his Tommy Boy connection helped and now notes Nick Saban vaulted from last to first on the GameDay “Super Dog ” picks contest. ( ZT, surely you are not making any correlation between you and Nick?!!?!?!)

Padre still in the lead ( most common statement on this blog in 2025!!)

Army vs Navy: I grew up in Pensacola…beautiful beaches and Naval Aviation. I grew up going to Blue Angels shows on the Gulf ( of Mexico at the time ). Top Gun was THE movie of my childhood. BUT, my “Granddaddy” was in the Army and fought in WWII ( Battle of the Bulge ). So I love both ( AS all Americans should ). This year? I’m going with the upset. Army 24 Navy 23.

ZT notes: “One more Great American!!!”

ZT is ready to prognosticate America’s Game!!

Army Black Knights vs Navy Midshipmen Saturday 2pm Baltimore

Good news is both of these Service Academy teams are solid! Both have winning records and are bowl bound ( and not to the Birmingham Bowl that was turned down by 8+ schools before finally getting a taker). The Black Knights lead the nation in time of possession at just over 35 minutes per game. Oh yeah, they run the ball and run the ball and run the ball. QB Cale Hellums is the teams leading rusher at 1,078 yds and 15 TDs. So, what about the Midshipmen? Well Navy QB Blake Horvath is also a 1,000 yd rusher with 14 TDs but also has 1,390 yds in the air. ZT totally shaded to Navy after listening to an interview with Navy QB Blake Horvath on ESPN. Add in Navy’s 2 losses were on the road at Notre Dame and North Texas. BUT…this is Army vs. Navy and it is being played this year in Baltimore ( where the locals are glad to see some better football than the Ravens have been playing..) so you just never know. OK, but ZT knows ( or thinks he does ) and it will be the Midshipmen in a lower scoring affair. Midshipmen 21 Black Knights 17

Dad Joke: Why didn’t the dog want to play football? He was a Boxer

Dad Joke Bonus: Why did the poor QB have his receivers cross at midfield? He was trying to make ends meet!

Dad Joke Bonus #2: What’s it like to have the best son in the world?? Go ask your grandpa!

Padre and ZT back next week for Round 1 of the College Football Playoffs!
